Free Electric Shuttle Service Transports Travelers at San Diego International Airport (SAN)

100% Electric Endera Shuttle Buses Clear The San Diego Flyer For Takeoff

SAN DIEGO, CA (December 2, 2021) The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority announced the launch of the San Diego Flyer, a free electric shuttle bus service powered by Endera electric shuttles, that will transport passengers between the San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Old Town Transit Center.

Through their partnership with ACE Parking and the San Diego International Airport, Endera supplied a fleet of 6 fully electric shuttles which will be in use for a new service called The San Diego Flyer. Endera’s Shuttles are powered by 100 percent sustainable energy through charging stations located on airport property. Endera electric shuttles are equipped with many rider-friendly features including air conditioning, luggage racks, and an ADA ramp.

"ACE is excited to utilize Endera's fully electric, zero-emission shuttles to power the inception of the San Diego Flyer shuttle service, which will seamlessly connect travelers and employees to San Diego International Airport from Old Town station. This is a critical development step for San Diego's regional public transportation infrastructure and Endera helps ACE deliver transportation solutions to SAN that align with the airport's commitment to sustainability and Clean Transportation Plan." Morgan Leslie, Managing Director, ACE Parking.

The San Diego Flyer electric shuttles will operate every day with an arrival every 20 to 30 minutes on average and are intended to meet the first and last Trolley, Coasters, Amtrak trains, and MTS buses at the first and last drop-offs, which start as early as 4:45 am to wrapping up just after midnight. Currently, the buses stop at the Old Town Transit Center, Terminal 1, and Terminal 2. Passengers can be picked up and dropped off at transportation islands at each terminal.

"ACE Parking and the San Diego International Airport are leaders in the adoption of electric transportation and understand the need to advance clean mobility. The San Diego Flyer is a great representation of that.” John Walsh, Founder, and CEO, Endera.

This new electric shuttle program also utilizes the Endera GO platform, an app that allows riders to see live bus locations at any point on the route, accurate ETA’s, and view seat availability in real-time. The Endera Go app helps to ease the travel anxiety that comes along with getting to and from the airport in order to maximize the comfort of the transit experience.

The San Diego Flyer shuttles can be seen by a branded light orange wrap with plane icons and the word “Flyer” across the side of the buses.

Endera Joins CALSTART’s Drive To Zero Campaign To Accelerate Zero-Emission Commercial Vehicles

SAN DIEGO, CA  [September 30, 2021] – Endera, a technology company specializing in all-electric commercial vehicles, charging infrastructure and software solutions, is excited to announce we have committed to endorsing CALSTART’s Generation Zero pledge program, a strategic Midwest regional program designed to catalyze the growth of  zero-emission transit vehicles – including transit, shuttle and school buses.

Through Generation Zero, Endera and our Ohio based school and shuttle bus factory will be working with a global team of leading-edge, clean transportation innovators collaboratively sharing best practices, tools, ideas, challenges, and victories, all with the shared purpose of maximizing the clean air, climate, and economic benefits these vehicles bring

“As part of our pledge, Endera partners will work collectively with regional stakeholders to expedite zero-emission transit vehicle deployments, including both battery electric buses (BEBs) and fuel cell electric buses (FCEBs), over the next 10 to 20 years. Generation Zero recognizes transit as a first success application for transportation electrification,” said John Walsh, Endera's Chief Executive Officer.“

Medium and heavy-duty trucks also generate 60% of air pollution in major metropolitan areas and are responsible for approximately 22% of energy use in the U.S. transportation sector. Figures such as these are the reason why momentum is building for federal support to encourage greater and quicker adoption of electrification technologies. Progress in zero-emission transit vehicle deployment ensures that the Midwest will continue its leadership in all things transportation, job creation, and continued manufacturing growth. Pledge partners will help the region’s states and cities meet sustainability goals and realize their clean air ambitions, while driving industrial competitiveness and clean technology job growth.

In joining Generation Zero, Endera is committing to being active in communications and activities geared toward achieving the two fundamental goals of the program:

  • Make zero-emission transit vehicle deployments (vehicles and infrastructure) commercially viable and cost competitive in the Midwest by 2025, including at least 1,500 vehicle orders and deployments by 2025—a 360% increase over 2020  deployments.

  • Ensure zero-emission transit vehicles achieve 100 percent new sales across the Midwest by 2040 and ideally as early as 2035 with the right ecosystems in place.
